What better day to announce my latest illustration/logo project involving U.S. Presidents, than Presidents Day? About a year ago I tripped over a very simple iconic, logo-like portrait of Hugo Chavez created by Argentinean based studio Nobrand. I was captivated by the way they captured so much of his likeness, by only using simple shapes and lines. Being a logo designer, I wanted to try it for myself, but wasn’t sure who should be my muse. Then I glanced over at the bust of George Washington on my desk, the proverbial light bulb appeared, and I grabbed pencil and paper.
Once George was done, I wondered how hard John Adams would be, then Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe. Before I knew it, I was up to Abraham Lincoln.
By then, it was too late, I had to go around the horn. So I create one for every U.S. President including Barack Obama (and have plans to do them from now on).
Once they were all completed, I decided to build an entire website around them, calling it PrezHeads. With the help of Fat Panda, the online vision became a reality. So check it out, pick your favorite and let me know what you think. A store is in the works and will offer die cut stickers and magnets of the most popular PrezHeads.
